The Brien Holden Vision Institute has established a good corporate governance framework which determines the processes, systems and standards involved in directing, controlling and adding value to the organisation. This includes the setting of strategic directions, the development of organisational policies including asset and risk management, the establishment of expectations of management performance and the monitoring of achievements against these.

The successful management approaches and structures instituted provide strong support to all activities, ensuring effective governance, research management and commercialisation.

Established in 1985, the Institute is a not-for-profit organisation, incorporated as the Institute for Eye Research and limited by guarantee on 16 January 1998.


Board of Directors

The Brien Holden Vision Institute is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board provides leadership and strategic direction for the Institute by deciding priorities, determining policy and monitoring performance accountabilities. The Board comprises six voluntary members committed to the objectives of the company.

 


Executive

The Executive of the Brien Holden Vision Institute manages the overall performance and activities of the Institute and is responsible for executing the priorities identified by the Board. The following staff form the executive team.

 


Research Committee

The Research Committee determines the research activities the Brien Holden Vision Institute conducts into matters relating to the eye and vision system.
