The Brien Holden Vision Institute conducts world-class scientific research and product development in its outstanding, fully-equipped microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and cellular biology facilities.
The Institute’s scientific research activities aim to enhance knowledge of ocular health and investigate new ways of combating inflammation and infection of the eye. This knowledge is also utilised in broader medical applications.
This expertise is a crucial component of the multidisciplinary projects developing revolutionary vision correction devices, providing an undertsanding of ocular health that is critical to the development of contact lenses in particular, as well as solutions to adverse events of the eye.
Research outcomes are enhanced through access to the clinical trials facilities of the International Clinical Trials Centre, which enable laboratory discoveries to be investigated in a clinical setting.
Science research projects are also undertaken in collaboration with external partners.
