The technology discipline provides critical support to many of the Institute's key research projects, including the Myopia Control program (developing a treatment to control the progression of myopia) and research into a novel treatment for presbyopia (Accommodating Gel project).
Accommodating Gel
Presbyopia occurs when the eye’s natural crystalline lens hardens with age, gradually losing its flexibility and ability to focus (its accommodation). This is largely dependent on the flexible lens being able to change shape
Myopia Control
The Technology group has been making a significant contribution to the Myopia Control project, including hardware and software for measurement of peripheral vision.
