The initial IER Matrix Study (released in September 2007) and IER Matrix Study Update (March 2008) investigated the level of solution-induced corneal staining (SICS) that occurred with long-term use of commercially available contact lenses and contact lens solutions. Wearers that experience SICS during contact lens wear have a higher risk of discomfort and infiltrates.

The studies are a major investment towards providing eye care practitioners with valuable information on the optimum combinations of lenses and solutions for their patients.

The IER Matrix Study was published in Contact Lens Spectrum in September 2007. The IER Matrix Study Update was published in Contact Lens Spectrum in March 2008.
