Sydney, Australia, 16 May 2019: The new Global Myopia Centre at the Brien Holden Vision Institute aims to bring together available expertise and resources in research, innovation, education and global advocacy efforts in myopia -- all onto one platform to educate the eye care community and equip them to manage the impending myopia escalation.

The website offers a single sign on feature for the users, which then allows them to create their own unique Global Myopia Centre account. This provides seamless access to a number of online tools designed specifically to help practitioners who are making the transition to managing myopia.  These tools include the Brien Holden Vision Institute’s Myopia Guidelines and Myopia Calculator – as well as ‘member-only’ educational resources and infographics.

“We are delighted to launch the new Global Myopia Centre to the eye care profession – and the community – during Myopia Awareness Week 2019,” says Yvette Waddell, CEO of the Brien Holden Vision Institute Ltd. We are delivering the most critical knowledge in myopia research, practitioner training and technology through a refreshed platform, to better assist optometrists operating in – or looking to move into – managing myopia in practice.”

Also new to the site are feature editorials and academic blogs, authored by leading experts in myopia management as well as emerging researchers at the Brien Holden Vision Institute, bringing together the Institute’s strengths across all aspects of myopia.

“You’ll find dynamic content that is evolving and updated regularly to help the eye care community respond to the challenges of managing the rising myopia epidemic,” adds Head of the Global Myopia Centre, Padmaja Sankaridurg. “Our aim is to keep the profession current in the myopia space with recent articles, innovation and academic reviews presented in a ‘short and sharp’ format.

Users are able to download many of the resources available for later perusal or use in their own area of practice. Many of these tools are free, as our service to the community and profession.”

The new platform will host the market leading Myopia Education Program and the latest in innovation and industry initiatives.
